Dorfold Hall is a Jacobean country house built in 1616 for Ralph Wilbraham. The house has beautiful plaster ceilings and panelling complimented by interesting furniture and pictures.
Dorfold’s 18acres (7.5ha) of gardens reflect four centuries of gardening fashion. To the south of the hall, which dates from 1616, spring bulbs and newly planted herbaceous borders provide colour throughout the spring and summer. Visitors can also enjoy fine specimen trees, including a magnificent Spanish Chestnut over a thousand years old – the last survivor of the original Delamere Forest.
Dorfold also boasts a woodland and stream dell, and a rock garden, containing rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and acers.
